I’ve bought two of these recently–one for myself, one for a neighbor who liked mine. It’s sturdy and stable; can be adjusted for right-or-left-hand use. (the loop should face forward for best balance–I’ve seen some people not use them correctly). Mine has a plastic film giving it some color–it’s light-colored. It replaces a black one lost in travel. Light color is easier to find at night in dim light. The film CAN get nicked. I plan to touch up nicks with nail polish; craft stores have paints that also would probably work for touch-up. The foam handle is firm–softer than a rubber handle, but will probably wear. However–this was less than a third of the price for one available at a local store–so when the foam wears out, I’ll just get a new cane! My neighbor is totally pleased with her silver cane also.

I ordered this cane for a friend after a knee replacement. It was less than half the price of the quad cane at the medical supply store and was delivered (for free) more quickly. This cane has a flowered pattern on it and quickly was nicknamed the “tattoo cane”. I would highly recommend it.

This is my first cane so I cannot compare it against other canes. I’ll just provide some information that’s not listed. This folding cane adjusts from 33″ to 37 1/2″. It disconnects into four sections with the adjustable section on the thickest part at the top. There are five holes facing the rear of the cane located on the top adjustable portion. The length can easily be adjusted by pressing a small 1/4″ spring-pressured button in to release it from its position and move it to another position. The handle is made of hard plastic. The contour is nice as it nicely fits under the hand. The tip portion of the cane that comes in contact with the ground is a rubber material. The cane is light; I compared it against some canned foods from 14 to 16 ounces, and I would guess it is in that range towards the lower weight. The “attractive carrying case” is just a thin plastic, see-through pouch. Color is medium bronze. Model number is 1316BZ.

Note that there should be three plastic grommets, one each on the three lower section. The grommets serve to protect the cord from rubbing against the metal tubes. Without it the cord will wear out quicker and the cane will become useless without it. The one I received from Amazon was a returned unit missing two grommets, but I kept it anyway because I needed to use it immediately. Be sure to inspect your cane for the grommets.

For the price, adjustable and folding features, and light weight, I’m happy with it. One reason I chose this one over other models was because it was sold by Amazon instead of a third-party vendor selling through Amazon.

My dad needs to use an orthopaedic walking stick/cane because of injuries sustained to his leg in a car accident 40 years ago.

I bought him two of these canes for Christmas - they are great! The hand grip is extremely comfortable and the cane is so convenient when he has to go to meetings etc… he doesn’t have to walk in with it, just fold it up and put it in his briefcase!

If you are looking for a light-weight, portable, comfortable, durable orthopaedic cane - look no further.

I have not had much experience with canes but did some research before ordering this one. It is attractive, very sturdy, was easy to click together and take apart and easy to adjust the height. The handle is comfortable in my hand and I feel very secure when using it. Overall I am very pleased with quality and the price was outstanding.

I got this for my boyfriend who though he needs it said he would not use one. But since it was a folding cane and would be easy to take along on his bike he was actually very excited about it and using it. One thing though it says it is good for someone up to 6′3″ or 6′4″ and it was just the right size all the way extended for my boyfriend and he is 6′.

I had ordered and received another folding cane for twice the price of a Hugo from Magellan Travel. That one was not as advertised and poor quality. I sent it back, (had to do battle for a full refund and, three months later, I’m still waiting for confirmation), then found this Hugo on Amazon.

This cane is a precision instrument; very well engineered and manufactured. I believe them when they say it’s rated for 550 lbs, (now I can loosen my belt). The ability to adjust length has made this cane a perfect fit for me, and relieves painful stress to my shoulder and back. The Hugo comes with a very nice canvas like pouch, which is very handy if you’re fortunate to only need it functional intermittently. I wasn’t thrilled with the silver finish, but I’ve come to accept the reflective surface as a safety factor walking across intersections at night.

The one negative is the handle. It’s a very hard wood, (not chipped crap like the one from Magellan). I suffer arthritis, weak ankles, periodically combined with a gout attack. During these episodes I’m very dependent on this support; I lean nearly all my weight on it. That’s very hard on my hand. The handle is uncushioned, which is typical for this shape, and I should have considered that when ordering. I have not yet looked into alternate handles offered by Hugo, but I doubt they will offer cushioning. I think I’ll just have to bear it.

I note Amazon is now offering this cane at 10% less than they charged me; story of my life. Anyway, I thought my purchase was more than reasonable.

I have osteoarthritis in both knees, and this cane allows me to navigate stairs and ride the New York subway. What attracted me most to the HUGO Cane is that it’s sturdy and adjustable. I’m 5′3-1/2″ and able to adjust the height of the cane so that it’s a perfect fit for me. I have one in black and silver and both are attractive. Note: HUGO’s website has fashionable handles and replacement tips.
