I ordered this for my eight-year-old son. He loves, and is very proficient with, the more complicated Lego and KNex sets, so I thought this would be another building toy option. I have no idea why this is labeled for children as young as 5. It is very difficult to follow the schematic diagrams, even for a child experienced with these types of directions. I had to help him build the objects, partly because when you got one set of nuts and bolts tightened, ones on the other side were becoming loose. The motor is a cool idea, but it really exacerbates the problem of loosening connections. Our robot literally ran itself apart within five minutes. I can tell this won’t be a toy he returns to again and again. It’s just too frustrating.

As an adult I found this to be frustrating no wonder my child was having problems with it. As you work on your masterpiece it becomes master pieces. Nothing stays together for long if you don’t continue to check everything you have just accomplished. I don’t know if it is the type of plastic or what but nothing stays where you put it. And each step has several things you have to do which makes it complicated for young children to follow directions. I would say this is at least for ages 8 and up. I want to buy the metal erector sets for my child and see if they are any better.

LEGO Star Wars Motorized Walking AT-AT Reviews

Lego hits a home run with this mechanized model of the AT-AT you first saw terrorizing the Rebels on Hoth in Episode V of Star Wars. This advanced model (more than 1100 pieces) features a handle on top for easy transport, but the kicker is both its size (over 12″ tall and 14″ long) and the mechanization. With the addition of 6-AA batteries, this model uses its articulated legs to walk smoothly and “effortlessly”, with the head swiveling… just like in the movie!

The disappointment? Not too hard to build. I do have an expectation that these collector sets are more complicated and take more effort to construct.

But it’s so cool when it walks!

I just finished assembling Lego’s motorized AT AT. Not only does it look fantastic, but it actually is fully mobile. After tweeking the gears and the legs a bit, I managed to get the AT AT to walk smoothly on my tile floors. It’s not a toy for young children because of its fragility and small parts which can easily be swallowed, but for adult “kids”, it is definitely a wonderful collectible that will provide many hours of fun.

Contrary to other reviews I’ve read, I am totally satisfied with this product. Even though it is not of the quality of older sets (what is today) it still entertains and trains young minds.

The set was received on time in perfect condition. Because of some of the reviews we had read concerning missing parts, we inventoried the contents and found everything as listed in the manual.

We anticipate many years of enjoyment as we enjoy our grandchildren getting the same enjoyment we received many many years ago.

The set itself seems to be good. However, what is not good is the beginning age listed on it. This was given to a very bright eight year old who has no trouble putting together lego sets with 700+ pieces by himself. He takes radios apart and puts them back together. But He had trouble following the directions on this erector set. He might enjoy it in a few years, but for now it did not provide him with what we had hoped.

My Dad had a stroke about 8 months ago and lost movement on his right side. I hoped that this machine might help him in his recovery. At first I could not understand the use of a machine that actually does the pedaling for you. I thought the motor would provide resistance and was disappointed when I set it up. I couldn’t have been more wrong. My Father needed the help the motor provides. He only had one good leg. As soon as I turned it on for him he smiled. He loves it.

The most important feature turned out to be the dial that controls the speed. This provides almost infinite (so it seems) speeds. The digital ones can’t do that. When he first started he needed the slower speeds that only this dial could provide.

This machine has performed flawlessly, it has been used almost every day for 2 months with no problems. The timer is a great feature, the machine shuts off when it reaches 0.

Minor Issues

1) We removed the calorie counter as it gets in the way and kept falling off. It wasn’t needed anyway.

2) The blue plastic feet are not secured to the legs and tend to spin when moving it around. Secure the blue feet and it would be a perfect machine.

My Dad’s trainer checked it out before he started using it.

I bought this pedal exerciser for my mother to help her rehab after a stroke. Medicare and regular insurance only pays so for much rehab (surprise surprise), so I decided we needed to pick up the ball after they dropped it).

She has very limited use of her left shoulder, arm, hand and fingers.

There are non-motorized and there are motorized models. I decided that motorized was needed. I believed if her right arm (her good arm) fatigued too early from trying to pedal the non-motorized models, her left arm would not get the time needed to rehab. My idea was to wake-up the left arm and to get it moving was the best way.

I decided on this motorized model as it was less expensive than the other motorized models out there. I was keeping my fingers crossed.

A small note here.. this model does not have the REVERSE motion as some of the expensive models , BUT this is easily remedied by going to the other side of the small table she has it on, and using it from the back end. This way of using it will give her the reverse motion, so her shoulders and arms get the exercise in a different range of motion.

I had her start on a slower speed with 2 -5 minute sessions. One in the morning and one at night. I slowly increased her time over 4 weeks.

She is currently up to 20 minutes.

In just a few weeks she has already noticed a small difference in her grip strength. In the beginning her left hand would slip off the pedal quite frequently. Now, it seems to stay on the entire 10-20 minutes she is using it. Although this is a small change, every little improvement is welcomed. Hopefully more changes will begin. It certainly is worth trying.

At the same time her right arm is also getting a workout.

The model seems strong. No problems.
